What should I wear for middle school cheerleading tryouts? Ok well I was wondering what i should wear. Its for middle school cheerleading. Like, what shorts should I wear? Should I wear a tanktop or a shirt? Should I have my nails painted? Should I keep my side bangs down or clip them up? Etc. Sorry, its so many questions but please help! |
You should have your hair up in a ponytail or high pigtails and make sure all your bangs are clipped up securely; you dont want hair flying in your face + you may get points taken off so get used to having your hair up. you should wear shorts that you , for instance, would easily be able to slide into the splits in. make sure they are stretchy and stuff but wont expose anything unnecessary. your nails can be painted but make sure they arent sharp. you dont wanna poke someones eye (yours) or break it. when i go, i wear shorts (cheerleading) and a loose yet tight shirt with my hair in a ponytail and when i tumble, it doesnt get into my face.
also remember to wear cheer shoes (if you have some) or some comfortable ones. also, no jewelry.
my school's team wears these : store.nike.com/index.jsp?country=… but with a little red on it. they are easy to move in, wont fall off, helps you balance, are easy to grip and it makes you look like youre pointing your toes. |
What do I need to be able to do for middle school cheerleading tryouts? What do i need to be able to do for tryouts for middle school cheerleading? My tryouts are soon and i really want to make it! Can you tell me what things they are going to make me do and judge on? |
| do the cheer/dance without messing up, or at least acting like you're extremely confident, punch your motions, smile constantly, have decent jumps, be LOUD, and look like you're having fun. also, wear what they tell you to wear to tryouts/practices. if they don't tell you, wear a white tee shirt and black shorts, or your school colors. have all of your hair out of your face, put a ribbon in it, and don't wear too much if any makeup since you're in middle school. cheerleaders not only have to be athletes, but we also have to look good while doing it! :) |
What stunts and jumps should I learn for middle school cheerleading? I can do a pike jump, a toe touch, and a cartwheel. What else should I learn for middle school cheerleading? |
That is something you should ask the coach of the team you are trying out for. each school is different. at my middle school you needed a back-handspring and a good jump.
the most important thing for all teams no matter the skill is the ability to pick up cheers and chants, your attitude, and your appeal (meaning do you attract the judges eye?)
oh, and i have helped at the last 4 years of my old middle schools try outs and the high schools (which are way competitive) and they will take a girl (or boy) with a great attitude and not so great skills before they take someone with amazing skills and a horrible attitude. |
What do you have to know how to do for middle school cheerleading? I'm going to try out for middle school cheerleading and don't know what to expect them to want me to do, if that makes sense. |
| well my sis does cheerleading in MS, so i can guess they're gonna make u do pyramids, throw people, maybe some cartwheels. srry this really isn't too helpful |
What are the rules for junior high/middle school cheerleading? I want to know the "laws" for cheerleading in middle school/ Jr. high. Im talking about cheerleading at basketball games. I want to know what the rules are for side court and on court for performances. |
| The trouble is that as far as I know there are no enforced rules for jr high/middle school that apply everywhere. AACCA and the NFHS have good rules, so look into those: aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/coach… |
What can I do to make the Middle School cheerleading team? Im in 6th grade and I am going to try out for Middle School cheerleading...the problem is I have only taken one cheerleading class...at church camp. I am really loud and peppy and I can flip... some, but I dont know if I could make it. What are some tips for that problem? |
hey! well im going into 9th grade and i just made my JV cheer squad.
You will probably find out more information because most schools hold CLINICS before the acutal tryouts.clinics last from about 2-4 days. and it teaches you jumps, the cheers, chants, and dance moves that you will have to do at the tryouts in order to make the team. to gurantee a spot on the team: you must have:
1) School Spirit
2) A great smile, not a Fake one
3) Flexibility and leg strength
4) Cooperation
What judges look for at tryotus are confidence. If you make a mistake, your not supposed to cry and run away. You pretend like that mistake did not happen and continue with whatever routine you were just doing. Make sure you smile! that is very very important. Your movements also have to stiff and straight. No wobbly high V's or anything like that.
Basically, you will soon find more information if you keep looking into it and if you really want to make the team, then it will show. You also have to have a great attitude because people look up to cheerleaders in their school.
Also: what kind of cheer is your cheer squad?
if it is: competitional then if you have no cheer experience it will be pretty much rare luck that you make it in. because competitional cheer squads are serious and compete all over the place and you have to have a LOT LOT of cheer experience.
if it is spirit (like mine): you will probably compete in about at least 2 compettions (like mine haha) and your mostly there to cheer on major sports like basketball and football. that is why it is called spirit!
so i hope you get it. i already love cheerleading it is fun but it requires a LOT of time. so if you dont have time, i reccommend not trying out.
Tip: you MIGHT get intimidated by other girls, but what i think about is myself and instead of watching other girls and thinking omg they are soo making it! just think about yourself. Dont have tooo much confidence but have enough so that the judges could see it clearly! and also make eye contact!
GOOD LUCK! |
How to make middle school cheerleading team? I have tryouts for my middle school's cheerleading squad. They have junior varsity and varsity teams, i don't care which one im on but i wanna get on one. do you guys have any tips or suggestions. anything would help!!!!!
thanks |
Hopefully you have been practicing your jumps and motions for quite a while, and maybe have been taking tumbling classes. If you haven't, don't worry about it. Just do your best to clean up the skills you have now. :^)
If you would like to read some tips for trying out, there's a whole list here:

Good luck! I hope you make it! :^) |
What are some stunts that i can use for a middle school cheerleading team? Im gonna be the coach of a cheerleading team at a middle school and was wondering what stunts i can use for them?? |
| preps, extensions. if they are good teach them full downs/ extended libs! |
Do you think I can make the middle school cheerleading team? Ok so when I went to my middle school orientation they had the cheerleading team perform they did backflips and back handsprings. I can't do them. I can do cartwheel, roundoff, backbend, almost down splits, toe touch, herkie, high kicks, and heel stretch. But I will be taking cheerleading classes soon. |
| middle school cheer isnt very intense. just focus on learning the dance and the cheer very good, be happy, and show the coaches that you have potential to become better! |
Does anyone have ideas for a middle school cheerleading "boot camp"? I coach Middle School cheerleading, except for this year. And we have had a decline in girls, so the woman who is running the whole show wants to cut cheerleading all together. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to run a sort of "non commitment boot camp" to show girls what we would be doing and how much fun we have. A lot of the problem is we dont have a high school cheerleading squad, so the girls dont have anything to forward too. Can anyone give me some ideas? |
well im in middle school. and that is true. i wouldn't join if there wasnt a high school squad. BUT. the 'boot camp' does sound really fun.
just call it a cheer dance team. and teach them dance. like cheer dance. and have competitions within the cheer group.
i probably didn't help. sorry.
good luck with everything. |
